Ding Baozhen

Ding Baozhen was the Qing Dynasty governor of Sichuan Province, China after whom the Kung Pao chicken was named.

Biography


Born in Pingyuan, Guizhou Province in 1820, Ding was appointed a government official in 1854 after an outstanding performance in the annual Royal Examination. He served as head of Shandong Province and later as governor of Sichuan province. In the second year of Guangxu period of Qing Dynasty he supervised the reconstruction of the Dujiangyan Irrigation Project. His statue can be seen on display at Erwang Temple in Dujiangyan City. His title was ''Gōng Bǎo'' , or palatial guardian from which the name ''Kung Pao'' chicken is derived.

David Xiao

David Xiao is a politician and current Member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, representing the constituency of as a .

Early life



Xiao was born in Guizhou Province in southwest China. His father was an accountant in the coal mining industry and his mother was a teacher. After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in English literature from the Beijing Second Language Institute, Xiao began working as a translator and eventually got into business, which gave him the opportunity to travel to Canada. He moved his family to Edmonton during the Tiananmen protests in China, seeking freedom and opportunity.

In Canada, Xiao was a successful entrepeneur before entering public life, working in consulting, international trade, publishing, commercial real estate and marketing. As a business consultant, Xiao worked with some of the world's biggest companies, including Nortel, Bombardier, Motorola and various Canadian publishing companies. In addition to the BA in English literature, Xiao has a diploma in geological science from the Beijing Institute of Mining. He has also studied business through and economics at the University of Alberta.

Political career



Xiao first sought public office in the in the constituency of . In that election, Xiao defeated first-term Liberal incumbent Mo Elsalhy by 1216 votes to win the riding. After the election, he was named Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Employment and Immigration, Hector Goudreau. Politically, Xiao has been a member of the federal Reform and Canadian Alliance parties, and served on the Edmonton-Leduc board of directors for the Conservative Party of Canada.

Personal life



Xiao is married to Alice and together they have two sons, Allen and Andrew. He also considers himself a tea connoisseur. He collects tea pots and enjoys cooking.

Dai Bingguo is a professional diplomat of the People's Republic of China. He currently serves as a State Councilor, director of general office of foreign affairs leadership group of CPC Central Committee, and director of general office of national security leadership group of CPC Central Committee.

Born in Yinjiang County, Guizhou Province, Dai belongs to Tujia ethnicity. He graduated from department of foreign language of Sichuan University, majoring in Russian Language, and later studied at China Foreign Affairs University . He joined Communist Party of China in June 1973. He had served in Foreign Ministry of PRC for many years and was elevated to vice Foreign Minister in December 1993. In June 1995, Dai was transferred from "foreign affairs system" of the State Council to "international liaison system" of Central Committee of CPC, and became vice director of International Department of Central Committee of CPC. In August of 1997, on the eve of 15th CPC national congress, he was promoted to director of International Department. In May of 2003, Dai returned to Foreign Ministry and served as vice minister till April 2008, responsible for handling "North Korea nuclear crisis". In March 2008, he was appointed as State Councilor and Party group member of State Council.

Dai is the son-in-law of Huang Zhen, a senior Chinese diplomat, former vice Foreign Minister, Minister of Culture and first vice director of propaganda department of CPC Central Committee.

He is a member of 15th, 16th and 17th Central Committees of Communist Party of China.

Chu Hongchang

Chu Hongchang(; Pinyin: , : ; Posthumous name: born in Liping CountyGuizhou , was an eminent Han Chinese official, military general,late Qing Dynasty in China. He join the Xiang Army to fight effectively against the Taiping Rebellion and restored the stability of Qing Dynasty, and was one of nine generals lead main forces 60,000 occupied the Nanjing in 1864, commander Zeng Guoquan choiced Chu is third class merit of recovery Nanjing in nine generals, and reported to Beijing‘s government praised him, but another opinions thought Chu should be the first merit not Li Chenden?.

Led first wave offensive


19 July afternoon 13:00, the attackers detonated the explosives in the tunnel under Taiping Gate, the wall breaking fly 2--10 km far down, Chu led 1800 soldiers ran into shout: loudly and combat from there broken wall into city, but KIA 460 before 16:00 o‘clock by weak but bravely Taiping remaines use bombs, but Chu‘s troop defeated Taiping till second day at last.

Why first merit not Chu ?


1.In Xiang Army, Chu was not Hunan person.

2.His family name Chu was same Ming Dynasty emperor, and Ming first emperor built former capital in Nanjing, Zeng Guoquan had Han Chinese ideology and not wish lose face for Han.

3.Keep Some secret about Nanjing‘s treasure, so first and second class merit gave and praised knew secret generals.

4.He is too humble to selfish for himself.

5.Zeng‘s brothers feel discontented:Zeng Guofan appointed Chu follow Zeng Guoquan, but Zeng Guoquan don‘t forgiven eldest brother Zeng Guofan on some degree for elder brother was KIA in Battle of Sanhe, and blame Zeng Guofan‘s generals, included Chu.

Stationary in Yunnan


In 1876, appointed Chu led army stationary on Tengchong CountyYunnan built hydraulic engineering.

In 1888,Zeng Guoquan promoted Viceroy of Liangjiang, Chu followed Zeng again and came back Nanjing.
